Job Description

The client contacted Retrofit Projects in the spring of 2025, and requested a whole house retrofit survey, including thermal imaging.

The client was very keen to know what improvements they could make to improve cold draughty floors, and to improve the internal comfort, they were concerned about rising energy bills, the house was draughty and not retaining heat, they also wanted to make some decorative improvements to the interior of their home.

A detailed survey and retrofit assessment covered all aspects of the property, the main area of concern was the rear extension, and the main living room floor.

The survey and report provided by Retrofit Projects allowed the client to fully appreciate the extent of the remedial work required, and the expected costs of upgrading the insulation and duration of the project.

Solutions

Stage 1

Retrofit Projects provided a full insulation and retrofit survey, including a thermal imaging report
Detailed specification for upgrading the ground floors and some external walls.

Stage 2

The main living room floor was replaced with new insulation and floorboards and the ceiling over-boarded, skimmed, and fully decorated.

Stage 3

The rear extension floor was upgraded with new insulation, extra joists, and floorboards.

Stage 4

The external walls and the ceiling to the extension were insulated with laminated phenolic insulation boards.

Stage 5

The remaining walls in the extension where space was tight, were decorated using a Wall Rock thermal lining product, and fully decorated.

RESULTS

Both rooms have shown a marked improvement in heat up times, and overall comfort.
The work was completed in summer 2025 and further work planned for spring / summer 2026.
All work undertaken is covered by a full guarantee on both labour and materials.
