Insulation and rendering work - summer 2022
The clients contacted Retrofit Projects in spring 2022 and requested a whole house retrofit survey, including a thermal imaging survey. They were concerned about rising energy bills and also wanted to make significant improvements to the home.
A detailed survey was carried out of the property, highlighting areas of heat loss. The original bungalow was very poorly insulated at that time and it was found to have old UF foam from the 1970s with some sections having no insulation at all.
The external render was in very poor condition and during the survey it was found that the existing wall ties were rusting and needed to be replaced.
The client’s priority was to improve the comfort of the living areas and deal with remedial works.
The property needed significant up-grading and modernisation to make it warmer and more comfortable for the future, including new A`-rated PVCu double glazed windows.
The survey and report provided by Retrofit Projects allowed the client to fully appreciate the extent of the work required and the expected costs and duration of the project.
